Objective
To promote personal accountability and community transformation by engaging participants in symbolic and practical actions that reflect the principles of Justice, Amends, and Reconciliation.
Components
Opening Ceremony
Introduction to the Accountability J.A.R. principles.
Explanation of the symbolic act of throwing stones into a well.
Self-Assessment Station (Justice)
Participants write down their personal inventory on a stone.
Each stone represents a mistake or wrongdoing they acknowledge.
Participants throw their stones into the well as a symbolic act of admitting their mistakes.
Responsibility Station (Amends)
Participants write down actions they will take to make amends on a stone.
Each stone represents a commitment to take responsibility for their actions.
Participants throw their stones into the well as a symbolic act of committing to make amends.
Learning and Growth Station (Reconciliation)
Participants write down lessons learned and how they will use these lessons to serve others on a stone.
Each stone represents a commitment to personal growth and community service.
Participants throw their stones into the well as a symbolic act of reconciliation and growth.
Resource Fair
Booths from local organizations offering support services such as legal aid, job training, mental health support, and more.
Panel Discussions
Panels with community leaders, law enforcement, and individuals who have successfully navigated the expungement process.
Networking Opportunities
Spaces for attendees to connect with potential employers, mentors, and community advocates.
Closing Ceremony
Reflection on the day’s activities and the commitments made.
Encouragement to continue practicing the principles of Justice, Amends, and Reconciliation in daily life.
